After a hugely successful inaugural event in 2020, The Street Paws Festival is coming back to The Station next month.
The free festival, which began life in Sydney three years ago, and now operates across seven locations will be rolling into Newcastle on Sunday 21 February.
“We had such an amazing event in Newcastle last year,” Street Paws organiser Sharon Garrand told Newcastle Live.
“Our last event at the station was actually the very last event we ran before COVID hit. It was probably our best one yet so we definitely went out on a high.”
Sharon said that Street Paws 2021 will boast a relaxed market vibe with a greater focus, this year, on more food trucks on hand to satisfy hungry leash holders.
“There will also be lots of different rescue dogs there on the day so people will have the chance to find their forever pet, and there will also be a vet on hand to do little check ups and so on.”
The doggos will get their chance to strut their stuff and win some fantastic prises in the best old timer, best rescue dog, best dressed and, for the first time, vutest puppy competitions.
“You’ll sdefinitely see dogs of all shapes and sizes,” Sharon said.
“Street Paws is for people to come and connect with other dog lovers and also for people who love to just show their dogs off because people really love their fur babies.”
Sharon added that there are intentions to run various workshops on pet ownership and dog safety, however, the trainers who ran the workshops in 2020 are unavailable in 2021 so she is urging any local trainers able to lend a hand to get in touch here.
The Street Paws Festival is on at The Station on Sunday 21 February from 11am to 3pm. Head here for updates and more information.
