International DJ Perry Carter has teamed with the culturally cool Edwards Bar and sound specialists Audio Junction to bring to life ‘SoundBite’, an evening of music paired with food and drink.

Well known around Newcastle for his Deep House mixes, Canadian-born Carter (real name Peregrine Lamb) has honed his skills working around the world including the tough London circuit. After completing an Advanced Diploma in Music Business at Hunter TAFE, the creative DJ has worked steadily around the city’s local hot-spots.

Each month the music will be hand-chosen with the selected album played in its entirety. The specialised food and drink menu will be the venue’s interpretation of the album. DJ Carter will introduce the album at the start of the night, discussing its importance to a genre, era and how it has influenced other artists. Audio Junction has come on board to enhance the evenings by providing the DJ with the Devialet Phantom, the latest in the award-winning range of Devialet wireless speakers.

DJ Carter said that he will be choosing albums where people may know a few of the songs but may not have listened from beginning to end “even if it is an album that you are familiar with, it will be a completely different way of listening to it” he said.

“It’s a night for music lovers as well as food lovers. Food tastes differently depending on what you are listening to” the DJ explained. “The idea of the night out is to use all five of your senses at once.”

SoundBite kicks off this Thursday night, 8pm The Edwards Bar with Massive Attack – Blue Lines the first album to be shared.

Future dates include Thursday, October 13 and Friday, November 11.

Entry is free.
