We’ve all heard of a telethon, walk-a-thon, and even a read-a-thon, but a Raise Love-a-Thon?

Well, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Northern NSW is currently running the first-ever Raise Love-a-thon which is calling on community generosity to raise $50,000 for seriously ill kids and their families.

From now until Monday 17 August, individuals, community groups and businesses are asked to dig deep for this inaugural event which is aiming to fund 370 nights at Ronald McDonald House.

“The world around us is changing, but childhood illness doesn’t halt and RMHC have families that still need our help,” RMHC Northern NSW CEO, Ross Bingham said.

“Isolation, home-schooling, and the constant fear of infection isn’t new for families which need RMHC – its a way of life, often for months and even years while their child is seriously ill or injured.”

The Hunter business community is well and truly getting behind the fundraising push, with the likes of Hunter Signs, Strategic Group, Pettigrew Funerals and Enterprise Law getting the donation ball rolling.

The Newcastle Knights are also getting behind the Raise Love-a-thon by producing a video to boost awareness and call for donations.

The fundraiser will culminate in a live-streamed event on 17 August where the final tally will be revealed.
