The Legendary Invisible Rock Singer Cowboy Dave Graney and long time partner in crime Clare Moore held a sold-out Stag and Hunter crowd in the palm of their hands on Friday night.
The Antipodean King of Sartorial Splendour was definitely in his element, regaling the assembled with his razor-sharp wit, laconic tall tales and true, and, of course, a crop of brilliantly crafted tunes.
Clare, who is normally found seated behind the drum kit in Dave’s many full band incarnations, looked equally at home providing accompaniment on keyboards, vibraphone and precussion.
The duo kicked off the two-set show with a couple of Scott Walker tunes, before ripping into stripped-back renditions of a slew of Graney standards including You’re Just Too Hip, Baby, Night Of The Wolverine, Rock and Roll Is Where I Hide, and Drugs Are Wasted On The Young.
One sonic surprise was the inclusion of the Maureen McGovern Academy Award-winning tune We May Never Love Like This Again from the 1974 disaster flick Towering Inferno, with Dave explaining he had been trying to convince his bands for years to give the song a go.
Our resident snapper Juan Mahony was there to capture all the action. Check out his pics below.
