Sunday night saw me making a trip into Lizotte’s to see Dave Carter, I’d been looking forward to this for weeks, and the show was everything plus, that I expected it would be, Dave at his talented best.

Young Hunter Valley singer/song writer James Osborn opened the night with a great mix of originals and covers; there is definitely a big future for this young artist. Loved his tune, “Discovering Monkeys”, James has a new EP being released very soon so keep an eye out for it.

Dave Carter was up next with his band, which consisted of a who’s who of local industry legends. There was Robbie Long – Drums, Paul Elliott – Guitar, Justin Ngariki – Bass, Matt Gaudry – Keys, Sue Carson – Fiddle and Guy Deville – Percussion, with that much talent on stage you know your in for one hell of a night.

Dave and the band played all of the tracks off his new album ‘Ten Tall Tales’ with the exception of track 11, ‘Old Joe Clark’, as well as a number of great covers, including The Babys, ‘Isn’t It Time’ with Sue Carson that had the house rocking.

Dave Carter is one of the most engaging artists I’ve seen, whether it’s playing solo or with a full band he has that rare talent of drawing the audience in and making a large venue feel small and intimate, like you’re sitting in your own lounge room enjoying the company of good friends and fine music.

Dave plays regularly around town so keep an eye out for him, go and enjoy the show. Dave Carter’s, Ten Tall Tales is available on iTunes and at www.davecarter.com.au

All up a brilliant night of world-class music at a fantastic venue.
