25 years since the release of Savage Garden’s chart-topping, multi-ARIA Award-winning self-titled debut album, Darren Hayes is back.
His new single, Let’s Try Being In Love has been an instant hit with fans new and old and he’s just announced a six-date national tour that stops into the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in February 2023.
“You never know how much you love something until it’s taken away from you,” Darren said.
“After almost a decade out of the spotlight and all this time in lockdown I found myself really missing the electric feeling that only a live audience can bring.”
To celebrate the announcement of The Do You Remember? tour Darren will release a new single, the tour namesake, on Thursday 10 March.
It’s easy to forget just how popular Savage Garden was. But the success of their songs is undeniable. I Want You, To The Moon And Back, I Knew I Loved You and Affirmation were all massive hits for the Australian duo. And their 1997 single, Truly Madly Deeply set a record for the longest time any single in history has spent in the American Hot Adult Contemporary chart with 23 weeks in total.
And then there’s a string of hit singles as a solo artist including Insatiable, Pop!ular and So Beautiful you can see why Darren has managed to sell 30 million albums spawning two chart-topping singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, 14 ARIA Awards, 10 APRA songwriting awards, give Top 10 albums and nine Top 10 singles.
“After 25 years in the music industry, I feel like we’ve grown up together. To sing these songs again after all we’ve been through is going to feel like a family reunion. I’m beyond excited to return,” Darren said.
