This year, pizza obsessives, Crust will celebrate their 21st birthday.
But instead of reaching for the yard glass, the passionate pizza makers have decided to honour the occasion by asking the age-old question – Does pineapple belong on Pizza?
To help us all answer that question Crust has re-released four of their most controversial pizzas, including the crowd dividing Peppered Pineapple. A pizza that makes the vexed ingredient the star of the show.
The contentious Pizza has made its way back onto the Crust menu, for a limited time only, along with three other flavour combos that set social media alight. The White Prosciutto, Philly Steak and Satay Chicken pizzas.
So yesterday, the Newcastle Live team sat down to put it to the test and answer the question once and for all.
The peppered pineapple on the pizza is complemented with caramelised onion, and baby spinach served on a sweet chilli base and garnished with aioli and fresh basil.
And we’re here to tell you, that when you take the time to make pineapple the star – it shines.
Washed down with a few cheeky lunchtime cocktails thanks to Mr Consistent Cocktail Mixers, we’re hard-pressed to remember a more satisfying office lunch.
A big thanks to the Crust team for a long-overdue office lunch and we urge you to try it out for yourself.
