Gardening Australia host and environmental educator, Costa Georgiadis will be on hand to launch the 2022 Newcastle Writers Festival at Newcastle City Hall in March.
Festival director, Rosemarie Milsom says it’s the first time in the festival’s history that there has been a public program launch.
“We wanted to do something special to signal our return to live events after a challenging couple of years,” said Rosemarie.
Georgiadis’ book, Costaโs World, will be the focus of an in conversation with ABCTV colleague Paul West as part of the launch.
“The audience will be treated to a preview of our April festival program as well as a lively conversation between two top blokes who are passionate about gardening and sustainability,” Rosemarie said
While the 2020 festival was cancelled just three weeks out from its planned weekend, The 2021 festival was postponed because of the extended NSW lockdown.
“I have a good feeling about April, and I am thrilled with the line-up,” said Rosemarie.
“I am confident we can present a COVID-safe program to welcome our audience back. The writers are excited to be visiting Newcastle, some for the first time. There is also a strong contingent of local writers.”
Newcastle Writers Festival has purchased KN95 masks and Rapid Antigen Tests for staff, guest writers, and its team of 150 volunteers to keep the event Covid Safe.
Other safety measures include outdoor seating in Wheeler Place, socially distanced book signings, and limits on venue capacity.
