We’ve written about coffee many a time here at Newcastle Live, but with the winter months finally rolling in, we can never have too many warm cups of delicious brew amirite? But this time we’re not just talking about brew, we’re talking about hip brew and hip coffee and here are our top five places you’ll find it.

New Slang
480 Hunter Street, Newcastle
New Slang might be one of the new kids on the block but the team behind the brew have plenty of experience under their belt. You might remember some of those famous faces from the hay days of Welsh Blacks. Al and his crew are back with a bang and slinging some awesome, and very hip, brew.

Besties
398 King Street, Newcastle
Speaking of new kids on the block, Besties has only been open a week but they are already making waves. The crew behind Floozy coffee have finally taken the leap and opened up their very own coffee shop. Huzzah! The coffee is awesome, the décor is hip and heck and this is one you wanna keep on your map.

The Press
462 Hunter Street, Newcastle
We’ve spoken about the Press before but we can’t mention hip cafes without mentioning this little corner of Hunter Street. There’s great coffee, even better toasties and did we mention wall to wall books?

Frothers Espresso
140 Glebe Road, Merewether
We didn’t want those in the Junction miss out on the hip side of things and thankfully Frothers Espresso is here to stay! With the deliciously bearded Nathanial on the tools, you’re bound to want to walk in, hang out and have a pretty darn good time.

Equium Social
1-5 Maitland Road, Mayfield
For those living the Mayflyf, y’all already know about the wonder which is Equium Social. All of the hip people go here, so obviously you should too. There’s plenty of places to spread out and work on your startup, and sip a whole bunch of coffee whilst you’re at it.
