At the end of Beaumont St sits a hotel with a long and rather colourful history. While it may have been through many reincarnations in its time, the Sydney Junction Hotel has never looked so good!
If you visited SJs towards the end of 2015, you would have noticed the venue undergoing some fairly massive renovations. Finally, the plywood has been lifted to reveal what looks like almost a whole new venue.
With a background in design, Clare Rogers – who owns the venue with her husband, Campbell – took a very hands-on approach to the interior changes. Clare wanted to focus on natural textures and raw finishes, with lots of greenery to bring the space to life. The vibrant greens of the plant life add a great pop of colour against the muted, earthy tones, and two large vertical gardens create a striking feature wall in the dining room.
One of the biggest changes, however, was the complete relocation of the bar, which is now set in a much more centralised position between the dining area and bar area. The venue feels completely fresh and opened up, with a much smoother flow between areas.
With some more exciting changes set to occur later this year, we can’t wait to see SJs once the full transformation is complete!
