The footpaths in Newcastle will transform into an interactive art gallery this week when Chalk the Walk gets underway as part of the New Annual Festival.

Last year, Chalk the Walk won Bronze in the Best Street Art Festival category at the Australian Street Art Awards and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.

“This yearโ€™s theme โ€˜Art on the Streetsโ€™ will see our team of Artists bring iconic imagery and concepts out of the gallery and onto the street with a fun interactive twist,” Chalk The Walk Founder and Creative Producer, Andi Mether said,

“Visitors are encouraged to explore the free walking trail taking in the different 3D artworks as part of the New Annual Street Art Trail.”

Seven internationally acclaimed street artists will produce works for this year’s event, transforming Newcastle into an interactive 3D street art gallery.

Chalk the Walk artists will begin working on their concrete canvases from Wednesday 21 September until Saturday 24 September. Walking tours kick off on 24 September and run through until 2 October. Visit chalkthewalk.com to find out more.
