Maitland will celebrate 100 years of Vegemite with an exhibition dedicated to the iconic Aussie spread.
The upcoming Walls that Talk exhibition will take over the Maitland City Library façade until early November in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of our favourite yeasty toast topping.
It will feature a collection of Vegemite’s advertising campaigns and packaging designs from various decades, offering a nostalgic glimpse into its enduring cultural impact.
“Vegemite transcends being just a spread,” Maitland City Council Senior Place Activation Officer, Kara Stonestreet said,
“It embodies the very essence of Australia. It’s beloved by generations and remains an integral part of our national identity.”
Maitland City Library will host a special celebration on Wednesday, 25 October from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the community invited to check out the exhibition while enjoying complimentary cheesymite scrolls, Vegemite giveaways, face painting, photo opportunities, lawn games, and live music.
