Four professional music producers have been sharing their expertise in songwriting and production with music students from Callaghan College today.

The two-day workshop, which continues tomorrow give Music students from Year 11 and 12 a unique opportunity to work alongside some of the industry’s leading experts from the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA) is a unique opportunity.

“Learning how to grow the seed of a lyric or a melody into a whole song and then work out how best to perform it, and then produce that performance, is a complex creative and technical process you can only really learn on the job,โ€ Jesmond Campusโ€™ Head Teacher of Creative and Performing Arts, Jamie Mitchell said.

“Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re delighted to have four of the best in the industry guiding our students to show them whatโ€™s possible, particularly with the amazing production technology thatโ€™s now accessible, and available to them in the Campusโ€™ new CAPA facility.

“Weโ€™re hoping the workshops will inspire the students to be creative in their own time, especially given the impressive technology and software that can now be bought for home use at a very reasonable cost.โ€

Over the two days, the students will form groups to will work with the producers on writing and recording their own songs. The workshop will conclude with a feedback session on the student’s work.
