Maitland has unveiled its 2026 Seniors Festival program, promising two colourful weeks of activities, entertainment and community connection.

Running from 2–15 March, the festival invites older residents to ‘Live Life in Colour’ with a program designed to celebrate their contributions and showcase the vibrancy they bring to the Maitland community.

As part of the wider NSW Seniors Festival and supported by the NSW Government, the local program puts accessibility, creativity and social connection front and centre.

Council has shaped the festival around acknowledging seniors as active, valued members of Maitland, with the theme highlighting the creativity, diversity and lived experience they contribute every day.

The program is built to encourage participation, reduce social isolation and help older residents discover new interests and networks within their own community.

One of the standout events of the 2026 schedule is Rock ’n’ Roll in Colour: Seniors Lunch & Show, returning to Maitland Town Hall on 8 and 14 March.

Featuring Robbie & the Rockers performing classics from the 1950s and 1960s, the event offers live music, dancing and a sit-down lunch for just $10, ensuring it remains accessible to all.

Music fans can also look forward to Literature Live – Almost a Star with Lonnie Lee on 13 March, where the Australian music legend will appear at Maitland Town Hall to share stories from his new book.

Throughout the two-week festival, seniors can also take advantage of free entry to Maitland and East Maitland Aquatic Centre, including recreational swimming and aqua fitness classes.

The broader program spans creative workshops, wellness sessions, library events, community talks, outdoor experiences and social gatherings, with many activities accessible and low-cost.

Full details, bookings and program copies will be available from 3 February at Maitland Administration Centre, library branches and community touchpoints, or online at mait.city/SeniorsFestival.
