BLUESFEST 2016: Day 1

Our photo gallery from day One of Bluesfest 2016 and what a magic day of live music it was. Perfect weather and a swag of world class live music, we caught Digging Roots, Harts, Con Brio, Tweedy, Lukas Nelson, Songhoy Blues, Janiva Magness, The Word, Cold War Kids, Fantastic Negrito, Kamasi Wasington, Tedeschi Trucks and Kendrick Lamar.

Our picks of the day were Tedeschi Trucks, who were at their brilliant best and although it was pretty damn uncomfortable in the Mojo tent Kendrick Lamar’s set, where the Mojo resemble the chaos of a Soundwave mosh pit rather a typical Bluesfest crowd

We have blue skies over Byron again today and we will be kicking another massive day of live music off with Newcastle’s Bad Luck Kitty who scored a set at the Busking stage, if your at the festival today make sure you check the boys out they will be hitting the stage at 12.30pm

Tickets are still available for the remaining four days of Bluesfest at www.bluesfest.com.au

At 16 years old, on a balmy May Friday night way back in 1975. I rolled up to the Forestville Youth Centre (The Forrie Bop) tickets were a couple of dollars and the band on the night included the likes of Bon Scott, Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Paul Matters and Phil Rudd, yes ‘ACDC’ all for $2.00, can you believe that.
