Blue Water Country and Blues Music Festival

Kempy is no stranger when it comes to the cover music scene. With 20 years of live performance under his belt and a music career that has seen him travel the globe and back you can be assured that you are going to get an energetic, laugh a minute, sing along, professional show that will leave you wanting more! A Kempy show is one guy, one guitar, one audience and one BIG set-list that will take you back to the 60’s and then bring you back through the decades to land you smack bang in the hits of the present day. Covering songs from Elvis, The Beatles, Van Morrison and Johnny Cash through to Jason Mraz, Train, The Foo Fighters and Keith Urban there’s a little bit of something for everybody. It’s a live show that will cater to almost any venue, event or occasion.

More than 20,000 music lovers will boot-scoot their way to Port Stephens for the Blue Water Country and Blues Music Festival, held from Friday, June 10 to Monday, June 13, 2016.

Featuring an impressive line-up of modern and traditional country music acts as well as line dancing socials, buskers and bush poets’ events, the event will take place in a number of locations across Nelson Bay in Port Stephens including Salamander Bay Shopping Centre which is sponsoring the event.

For the first time, 2016’s festival will also incorporate the Sacred Tree Markets, a regular event in which artists, designers, growers, makers and healers offer a range of products.

Among the artists performing at the festival on the Telstra Store Salamander Bay Stage at the d’Albora Marinas will be Golden Guitar-winning Troy Kemp. Troy is a solo artist who will perform favourite songs from Elvis, the Beatles, Van Morrison and Jonny Cash through to present-day hits from Jason Mraz, The Foo Fighters and Keith Urban. Kemp is also an accomplished songwriter himself and has a new single ‘How we roll around here’, which will be released in June. He will play a free show during the festival at d’Albora Marinas on Sunday, June 12, from 2.30pm.

Other artists performing include award-winning singer/songwriter Katrina Burgoyne, as seen on Channel 10’s ‘The Bachelor’, Rachel Summerell, Karen O’Shea, sibling duo Kaylens Rain, and Matt McLaren, fresh from the grand finals of ‘Australia’s Got Talent’.

In addition to the musical acts, line dancing events will take place on each day of the festival and two events will focus on bush poetry – a lunch at Nelson Bay Diggers on Saturday, June 11, and a breakfast on Sunday, June 12, which will feature poets Peter Mace and Jason Roweth.
