Bearfoot Theatre is set to bring a powerful re-imagining of Winnie the Pooh to Tantrum Studio in Merewether this October.
Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood is an innovative production that shines a fresh light on A.A. Milne’s beloved characters.
Blending the innocence of childhood with the grim realities of World War II, the story follows six-year-old Christopher Robin as he escapes the chaos of wartime London by retreating into the imaginary world of the Hundred Acre Wood.
It’s both a moving and disturbing portrayal of joy and horror through the eyes of a child.
Written, produced, directed, and designed by Bearfoot Theatre’s Artistic Director Riley McLean, the production uses creative design and diegetic technology to bring the well-known characters to life in ways you were probably never meant to see.
Emerging actor Zac Scully plays Christopher Robin in the Bearfoot show that cleverly intertwines Milne’s original quotes and poems to maintain the essence of Pooh while exploring disturbingly relevant themes of war and trauma.
Bearfoot Theatre’s production of Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood will take over Tantrum Studio in Merewether for a short run of performances from Wednesday 9 October. For more information visit trybooking.com.
