With the release of his 17th studio album My Criminal Record imminent, rock icon Jimmy Barnes has announced an extensive Australian and New Zealand tour that will include a stop in Newcastle this October.
The Shutting Down Your Town tour will be an 18-date extravaganza that will roll into the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Friday 25 October and Jimmy is set to play a set chock-a-block full of hits from his long and storied career and new tunes from My Criminal Record.
If that wasn’t enough Melbourne rockers Jet will be kicking off proceedings at the Newcastle show and with bangers such as Are You Gonna Be My Girl, She’s A Genius, and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, this is going to be a rock and roll show to write home about.
With Jimmy’s latest single Shutting Down Our Town (penned by Troy Cassar- Daley for Jimmy) getting a rousing reception around the traps since its release earlier this month, the soon-to-drop album My Criminal Record couldn’t come more hotly anticipated.
The album was written by Jimmy, with significant assistance from his oldest sparring partner, Cold Chisel’s Don Walker, whose name appears on six of the tracks. Outstanding contributions also come from close friends Troy Cassar-Daley, Mark Lizotte (aka Diesel), and The Living End’s Chris Cheney.
“It’s been ten years since I made an original rock record and I can’t wait to get out there and play these songs, along with all the old favourites, to a live audience. It’s going to be great,” Jimmy said.
Catch Jimmy Barnes and Jet when they shut down the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Friday 25 October.
Tickets are on sale from 9am on Friday 31 May though Ticketek.
