Canadian bluegrass sensations The Dead South are making their way back to Australia and New Zealand for their biggest tour yet, with Newcastle set to host the high-energy four-piece at Bar on the Hill later this year.
Known for their foot-stomping rhythms, intricate instrumentals, and captivating harmonies, the bandโs return follows two sold-out tours over the past two years, cementing their status as a must-see act for folk and Americana fans.
The upcoming tour will span across major cities, kicking off in Perth on 28 November before making stops in Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. After their Newcastle performance, the band will head across the Tasman for two final shows in Auckland and Waipara.
Blending progressive bluegrass, alternative Americana, and a touch of outlaw country, The Dead South have carved out their own distinct musical identity. Their signature sound features fast-paced banjo rolls, mandolin tremolos, and three-part harmonies, all wrapped in songs that explore dark yet familiar themes, murder ballads, ghosts, and betrayal delivered with a sly grin.
Their passionate following, known as Good Company, is expected to turn out in force, with many fans donning the bandโs signature look in a display of unwavering support.
If their last tour is anything to go off, tickets are going to sell out fast. Their show at Bar on the Hill, Newcastle is on Saturday, 6 December with presales for the tour kicking off at 10am on Wednesday, 12 February.
