Well, it’s that time again, parents and caregivers. The July school holidays are upon us once again.
With lockdown restrictions tentatively easing across New South Wales, this term break doesn’t need to be defined by Netflix movie marathons.
In that spirit, here are just a few awesome activities that are happening in Newcastle that we reckon our littlest citizens will get a real kick out of.
Decorate a doughnut
Kids will have the opportunity to DOUGH it for themselves these school holidays thanks to Doughheads.
The Junction-based doughnuttery is hosting a series of Kids Doughnut Decorating Masterclasses throughout the break .
The masterclasses will see head chef Kallan take the kids through the finer points of doughnut creation before the up-and-coming confectioners throw on the aprons and create three mini doughnuts which are then boxed up and ready to take home.
Hit this link for tickets and remember numbers are STRICTLY limited so get in quick.

Map your fave green spaces
Awesome local illustrator Liz Anelli is working with the City Of Newcastle to map our city’s green spaces and she needs your help!
Liz wants you to head out into the field and create a ‘mud map’ of your favourite local ‘green space’, marking any parks, bush reserves, creeks, trees that your encounter as well as your favourite places to play, climb, and ride your bike.
Don’t forget to draw any wildlife you see such as birds, insects, bats and anything in between!
Head here for detailed info on how to create your very own ‘mud map’ and get out there and get exploring!
