One of Australia’s favourite live acts, Art vs Science is headed to Newcastle this November for a show at The Newcastle Hotel.
The trio will land at The Newy with a bag of floor fillers from their back catalogue and tracks from their latest album, Big Overdrive, including the new single Check The Boombox.
Recorded earlier this year at Wilsons Creek in the Blue Mountains, the band say that the latest single gets its gritty funk from a mixture of old stereo equalisers, a terrible mixing desk, and dusty guitar amplifiers.
“The cost of producing this track was keeping a black and white cat fed and entertained, and lugging the gear from Bondi in a hired Goget van,” Art vs Science said in a press statement.
Filmed in Los Angeles, the video (above) was directed by Sam Kristofski who has worked with acts like Tame Impala, Pond, Broods and San Cisco.
The band will hit the stage in Newcastle as part of a 10-date tour that will make its way around the east coast throughout November and December.
“Buzzing to be back on the road again for the Big Overdrive tour! Coming to some places we’ve never been before / haven’t been in a long time,”
“Pumped to play tunes off the new record and all the golden oldies. See you all there.”
Art vs Science will play at The Newcastle Hotel in Islington on Friday, 25 November. Visit oztix.com.au for tickets.
