ART BEATS: Reviving the spirit of Hunter Street Mall with art and music

Hunter Street Mall will soon get its groove back thanks Art Beats which is set to take over the iconic strip for the first time this weekend.

The brainchild of Newcastle City Business Improvement Association (NCBIA) and UP&UP Inspirations, the free community events aim to make you fall in love with the heart of our city all over again.

“We would love to see the community in Newcastle come out and enjoy this 2-day activation but most importantly to revisit the Mall to show their support for the small businesses during the major transformation of the area,” Chair of NCBIA, Kendall Brooks said.


Both Art Beats’ events are aimed at the whole community. It’s youth-friendly, family-friendly, and dog-friendly – so make sure you bring your four-legged amigos along too.


DJs spinning bringing the beats, MCs hyping up the crowd, and stacks of live performances. Deejay Mathmatics first event on 23 March with 3Degrees hitting the stage on 6 April. There’ll also be interactive graffiti, art competitions and live tattooing.


Art Beats will take over Hunter Street Mall on Saturday 23 March and Saturday 6 April. Each event will run from 11 am until 2 pm.
