Alex Lloyd is bringing Watching Angels Mend to Newcastle, celebrating 25 years of the iconic album with a special anniversary show this June.

The Australian singer-songwriter will take the stage at King Street, marking a long-awaited moment for fans to experience the record live in full.

The milestone arrives after earlier anniversary plans were disrupted, making this performance feel like a long-overdue gathering.

Originally released at the turn of the century, Watching Angels Mend became a defining album in Lloyd’s career, resonating deeply with listeners through its honesty and melodic strength.

Over time, its songs have taken on lives of their own, moving far beyond their original recordings to become part of the soundtrack for a generation of Australian music fans.

The Newcastle show will not only revisit the album but also reflect on the journey since its release, from years of touring to personal growth and new material shaped by the same creative spirit. It’s a celebration of both the record itself and the legacy it has built over the past quarter-century.

In recent years, Lloyd has developed into one of the country’s most compelling live performers, with a vocal style that blends control, depth and emotional range.

His performances are known for their intimacy and power, shifting seamlessly between restrained moments and full, cathartic release, drawing audiences into every lyric.

Fans can expect to hear beloved tracks including Amazing, Green and Everybody’s Laughing, songs that not only charted strongly on release but have endured as staples of Australian music culture.

Alex Lloyd performs Watching Angels Mend at the King Street Bandroom in Newcastle on Friday, 12 June from 7:30pm. This is an 18+ event, with general admission tickets available now. You can grab yours now by heading to our gig guide.
