Local artist Alejandro Lauren, aka Wayde Clarke, has just opened Alejandro’s, a bold new creative hub in the heart of Newcastle.
The vision is more than just a gallery; it’s a vibrant, inclusive space built to celebrate art, identity, and community through self-expression and storytelling.
Alejandro’s showcases influential works exploring the human journey through colour, texture, and emotion, while also hosting immersive workshops that invite participants to create, reflect, and heal.
Each experience at Alejandro’s is designed to nurture creativity and connection, breaking down barriers between artist and audience.
Alejandro’s concept grew from the artist’s personal journey of transformation and self-discovery. Through the persona of Alejandro, Wayde found the freedom to embrace vulnerability and authenticity, and now hopes the gallery will help others do the same.
The gallery’s debut lineup features an impressive mix of artists, including Claudia Rose, whose playful and sensual works burst with colour and energy; Dana, a self-taught abstract artist exploring emotion through layered texture; Genevieve Ginty, whose photography confronts the fragile balance between humanity and nature; Kate Galea, whose dynamic urban-inspired pieces shimmer with life; and Luke Mannion, whose joyful explorations of queer domestic life capture the beauty of everyday intimacy.
Beyond exhibitions, Alejandro’s offers a range of creative workshops designed for all skill levels, from Tote Bag Painting and Creative Collage to the nostalgic Millennial Moments series.
Each session is an open invitation to explore art as a form of mindfulness, celebration, and storytelling, whether solo or with friends, colleagues, or family.
Alejandro’s is located at 291 Hunter St, Newcastle, and is open for exhibitions, workshops, private bookings and sticky beaks. For artist submissions, upcoming events, or workshop schedules, visit alejandrolauren.com or stop by to experience a new kind of creative community.
