After a decade away from Australian stages, British comedy legend Alan Davies is making his long-awaited return – and Newcastle fans will get their chance to see him live when he brings his new show Think Ahead to the Civic Theatre in December.

Known for his sharp wit and storytelling prowess, Davies is promising a night of laughter as he reflects on the trials and absurdities of middle age with a humour that’s reportedly sharper than ever.

Davies’ new show sees him confronting the realities of life as a self-described late middle-aged man – someone who spends more time in pharmacies than gyms and endures a steady stream of eye-rolls from his children.

Packed with the kind of observational humour that has made him a household name, Think Ahead invites audiences to join Alan on a comedic journey that mines every bit of laughter from everyday life’s more humbling moments.

Newcastle is one of only a handful of cities on Alan’s extensive Australian tour, which kicks off in Perth in November before weaving its way across the country.

Best known for his role in the beloved mystery series Jonathan Creek and as a fixture on the long-running panel show QI, Davies has also made a mark with his acclaimed stand-up shows Urban Trauma, Life is Pain, and Little Victories.

His talent for blending personal anecdotes with universal truths has earned him critical praise, with audiences often leaving his shows with sore jaws from laughing.

You can catch Alan Davies with his new show Think Ahead at the Civic Theatre on Tuesday, 2 December, 2025. Tickets for the Newcastle show go on general sale Friday, 2 May at 10am via Live Nation, with a presale kicking off a day earlier.
