To celebrate their 500th show later this year, a day on the green is giving away a stack of tickets to their upcoming events.

After two decades, and more than four million people through the gates, the concert series that forever changed the landscape for outdoor events is celebrating big.

The 500th show, at Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong on 19 November 2022, will see the legendary Crowded House take to the stage as part of their Dreamers are Waiting tour which will roll into Bimbadgen in the Hunter Valley for a day on the green on Saturday, 12 November 2022.

“Itโ€™s a remarkable milestone that a day on the green have reached,” Crowded House’s Neil Finn said.

“We were there at 220 and now itโ€™s our good fortune to be able to mark their special occasion, the big 500!

We will be fully energised and singing our hearts out, under the stars with all the good folk on the Green.”

The first A Day On The Green

Michael and Anthea Newton, who started a day on the green out of their garage in Elwood, have kept the same philosophy for the event 21 years on. Food food, fine wine and great music in magnificent locations.

The first a day on the green was at Mount Elizaโ€™s Morning Star Estate on 26 January 2001, with 1,800 people enjoying an all-Australian bill featuring James Morrison, Renรฉe Geyer, Stephen Cummings and Rebecca Barnard & Shane Oโ€™Mara.

“Everyone seemed to get the concept โ€“ that it was a day out, eating, drinking, hanging out with friends and enjoying the music,โ€ recalls Michael Newton. โ€œIt was an indicator that we were onto something,” Michael Newton said.

“It was an indicator that we were onto something.”
