We received a lovely message on Facebook from a local photographer, Emily Stoddart earlier this week. She shared some of her photos with us, and we loved them so much, we asked her if she would be keen for a chat. She said yes, so here it is….

NL: What first got you into the art of photography?

Emily: I have always loved taking photos but I really started to get into after I studied it at high school.

NL: What was the first camera you ever remember using?

Emily: The first camera I used was a Panasonic LUMIX 12 megapixel DSLR camera

NL: What is your current rig?

Emily: I currently use a Nikon D5200

NL: Digital VS Analog Film. Discussโ€ฆ

Emily: I love digital photography due to the ease of it and the simplicity of immediately having access to your images for uploading, editing etc. On the other hand, I also enjoy analog film photography as you get to develop your photos yourself.

NL: Where is your favourite spot to take photos in Newcastle?

Emily: Nobbys beach and the World Pool.

NL: If someone is interested in getting into the art of photography in Newcastle, where should they start?

Emily: If they are still in school, doing photography as a subject is a great start, there are also tafe courses and photography schools you can try.

NL: Whatโ€™s the future of your photographic career look like?

Emily: I would love to photograph more modelling and dance shoots and do some shoots of babies and young children.

NL: Where can we see more of your work?
