We LOVE Alex Lahey. There we said it. And while everyone we play her song, “You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me” to loves it, they don’t know much else about this talented Melbourne-based singer-songwriter. That’s where we come in!

2 – She won the Triple J Unearthed comp to play Splendour In The Grass, and brained it!


Yep, you heard correctly. Alex opened up the biggest winter bash in the Aussie music calendar, Splendour In The Grass.  She joined The Strokes, The Cure, Flume, The Avalanches and much more on an amazing weekend of live music. Tone Deaf said, “The young four-piece may have looked a little โ€˜rabbit in the headlightsโ€™, but certainly didnโ€™t sound like it, powering through a half hour set of up beat indie pop tunes”.


3 – In May, Pitchfork named her song ‘You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me’ Best New Music!


After Triple J’s Veronica and Lewis played her music to Pitchfork editor and founder Ryan Schreiber, the publication have named Alex Lahey’s ‘You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me’ with a coveted “Best New Music”.


4 – She sold her 1999 blue Corolla to pay for the recording of her debut EP


Not the Toyota! Yes, that’s right, Alex sold her beloved car to record the amazing EP being played all around the country at the moment.


5 – She’s playing a FREE gig in Newcastle on September 24

Now that you’re all excited about her music, it’s time to drop the real bomb! She’s playing at the Sydney Junction Hotel on September 24, and it’s totally, 100% FREE! That’s right, you can see one of the most exciting Australian artists at the moment, right in your own backyard, for nicks! Nada! Nothing!
