This Sunday, The Hamilton Station Hotel will pay tribute to a hometown triumph: the 30th anniversary of Frogstomp, the debut album from local legends Silverchair.
With a killer lineup and plenty of ’90s vibes, the stage is set for a homegrown celebration of one of Australiaโs most iconic records.
Released in 1995, Frogstomp wasnโt just an impressive debutโit was a global phenomenon. Three teenagers from Newcastle took the world by storm with a sound far bigger and heavier than their age suggested. Its release skyrocketed Silverchair into the stratosphere with the lead single, Tomorrow, being played on radio stations around the globe. Nearly three million copies sold later, Frogstomp remains a defining moment in Australian rock history.
Emily Smith (pictured above) and the Stag Temple Pilots will headline with high school rockers Stomp and solo artist Myrtlesque opening the night. Each act will play songs from Frogstomp alongside cuts from the Silverchair discography.
While the anniversary has already been honoured with an event in Sydney, this is Newcastle’s turn to celebrate one of its biggest exports, and to mark the occasion, the first 200 ticket holders will score a limited edition Frogstomp lanyard.
The 30 Years of Silverchair’s Frogstomp is happening at The Hamilton Station Hotel on Sunday, 20 April. For tickets and show info, visit oztix.com.au.
