Located in the heart of Newcastle’s CBD, The Crown & Anchor Hotel is not often thought of as a premier live music venue. But you only need to take a look at the amazing line up of artists who are currently playing there to debunk that.

On the fringe of the bustling arts & cultural precinct, The Crown & Anchor is not only making a name for itself for fantastic food and unique nightlife, they’re quickly becoming one of the best spots to check out some live music.

12th- Tim Rossington

In his acoustic style Tim finds an element for playing original music and music from artists that inspire him.


13th- Matt Semmens

Born on the same day as the legendary Tom Jones, Dave Navarro and Princeโ€ฆโ€ฆ Matt Semmens was simply born to entertain.

19th- Mardy Leith

He developed a love for music at an early age and began lessons at 11 years old. Mardy has been tutored for years by some of Newcastleโ€™s finest Musiciansโ€ฆโ€ฆ


20th- Twinsanity

Matt McLaren is a young extremely talented piano/keyboard player with extensive vocal range. His live performance, musical and production skills will leave you stunned. Matt has been playing for over 20 years and is classically trained. Definitely a presence that is recognisable and unmistakable.


21st- Coconut Trio

The Coconut Trio is an acoustic group made up of three members Olivia (vocals,bass), Sophia (guitar,vocals) and Frank (guitar,drummer,vocals), who originated locally from their family band ” The Kolo Sensation” from Newcastle.

In his short time as a performing artist he has recorded 2 EPโ€™s, supported a number of artist such as Jon Stevens (Noiseworks), James Rayne (Australian Crawl) and Rai Thisthlwayte (Thirsty Merc).

2nd- Crocq

With the long anticipated wait, CRocQ is set to emerge into the music scene locally, nationally and internationally.

10th- Zane Penn

Chameleon like, their style can blend in to suit any mood. Background, atmospheric gigs and Sunday arvo beer garden sessions can find them in acoustic mode, laying it back and very soft of the ear. While the late night party, pub sessions will find them plugged in and fired up with a big electric sound pulling off Telecaster riffs so sharp they cut like a knife.


11th- Shivoo

Covering hits from various artists from the 80’s and beyond like ACDC, Bon Jovi, Noiseworks, Divinyls,, Pat Benatar, The Sweet, Screaming Jets, Michael Jackson, Paul Kelly, Baby Animals,Stereophonics, Jimmy Eat World, Guns’n’Roses; Shivoo deliver engaging renditions with a dance feverish, melodically solid punch.


16th- Ryan Daley

Ryanโ€™s music comprises smooth vocal lines, at times a natural & raw sound, with a blend of hypnotic acoustic melodies. Creating a huge buzz on the Sydney scene, he gained the attention of a local Sydney Independent label. This has seen Ryan make several trips to the studio, since 2008. Working on his first album and playing shows up and down the east coast Ryan is able to share his love of music with a wider audience.

Sept 23rd – Jason Bone

Jason has featured in numerous recordings on various instruments, and has toured both nationally and internationally. In 2005, Jasonโ€™s band โ€œFumi Bocaโ€ were recipients of the Jazz Category award in the 1233 ABC Music Awards, after being nominated 3 years running.
