Your Guide to the Hunter Valley Cheese & Chocolate Festival

After a massive inaugural event in 2018, the Hunter Valley Cheese and Chocolate Festival is back!

Held at Hope Estate on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July, from 10am to 5pm each day, this mouthwatering festival gives both locals and visitors the chance to sample and pick up a range of delicious products in the one central and gorgeous location.

Living up to Hope Estate’s mantra of “Beer, Wine, Food, Music” the Cheese & Chocolate Festival brings together all these elements making a great day out with something for the whole family.

This festival is all about the food!  Whether you make it, want to learn more about it, or just love eating it, there’s something for everyone.

Foodies will be rejoicing with artisan cheese and chocolate makers from both near and far showcasing their products for both sampling and purchase in the Cheese Zone and Chocolate Zone.  Enjoy condiments, deli meat and the all-important coffee in the Cheese Zone.

The Sweet Zone has an array of delights from Pastries and Doughnuts to Nougat and Nuts.

For something more savoury, the Food Court provides substantial meal options.

A Hamper Package will take care of your hunger pangs and give you plenty of energy to make the most of your day. Enjoy it on our sprawling lawns surrounded by live music and stalls or watching the kids play. Just remember that these have to be pre-ordered!

Or, why not treat yourself to the VIP Experience that includes a three-course lunch with a glass of wine or beer overlooking the festival on an exclusive elevated deck as well as a reserved seat to one of the demonstration sessions? This package needs to be pre-purchased, too.

Speaking of demonstration sessions the new, larger demonstration stage has a program full of experts ready to share their knowledge and skills.

There’s also hands-on cheese making or you can drop by the live chocolate making display to see how the magic happens.

Included with every adult ticket is a complimentary wine tasting of the Estate’s top drops and this year guests have the opportunity to pick up their favourites to take home as they exit the venue.

If you want to get a feel for how wine was made in the “old days” you’ll have to get amongst the grape stomping activity.

Beer tasting is also included with adult admission so make sure you stop by and see what all the hype is about with fresh brews straight from the award-winning Hope Brewery.

And … if you are keen for more you can stop by the Beer Marquee and relax with a tasting paddle of four varieties.

It wouldn’t be an event at Hope Estate without music and the Festival stage has a line-up of artists playing throughout the day.

The Kids Zone will keep your small people entertained with complimentary face painting and a jumping castle. There will also be other rides, laughing clowns, treats, petting animals and the Tuff Nutterz inflatable obstacle course in the Kids Zone.

The festival is also getting back to where it all comes from with a live milking display.

And … if you’re still wanting more there’s market stalls offering an eclectic mix of wares.

There’s plenty of free parking on-site although sometimes the road network struggles with high volumes of traffic.

If you are planning to make a day of it Rover Coaches can get you there hassle-free and are operating services to the Festival from local accommodation venues as well as Newcastle, Maitland and Singleton.

The Festival runs from 10am-5pm both days.

In true festival style, the majority of stalls will be outside so come prepared for weather conditions on the day.

Most of our stalls will be cash only.  There will be an ATM on-site.

This is a non-BYO (food and drink) event and this will be enforced at the gates.

You can bring an empty soft, collapsible cooler bag to the event to ensure your purchases make it home at their peak.  Cooler bags and reusable ice packs will be available for purchase inside the venue.

If you’re someone who likes to save a few dollars remember to pre-purchase your tickets on-line before 6pm on Friday 5 July to take advantage of the early bird pricing.

Tickets are available from or at the gate (unless sold out prior).
