I’m not an authority on a lot of things, I’ll be the first to admit that. But, as a millennial who is currently housesitting to avoid paying rent let alone saving for a house, I am qualified to comment on one thing… smashed avocado. So here is our top five. From one millennial to well… the rest of the world.
Newy’s east end never fails to deliver and tucked away at the beach end of king street is Good Brother espresso. What I love about the smashed avo here, is that you get to ‘smash’ it yourself. Usually served with a whole half an avo filled with olive oil it’s just what the millennials ordered. Feeling fancy? Add some pesto and goats feta. Yas Yas Yas.
The Locale often seems to be a middle point for everyone’s breakfast adventures. With heaps of extras available, this plate of bright green deliciousness is a hit.
The best thing about Momos, is that you know it’s always fresh. Always delicious. And will make you feel like you’re exactly where you need to be. Their smashed avo of course is no exception, with a rotating list of fresh and local produce extras to spice things up a bit, it’s somewhere you don’t want to miss.
Bar Beach Kiosk
Bar Beach gets a stack of extra points for location, obviously. But if you’re in the market for a way to start your day off on the right foot, why not head to the kiosk and grab some avo on toast (on a budget) with a view.
The dark horse of the bunch Hughzies embodies everything you could ever want in a smashed avo delight. With cherry tomatoes, feta, and a balsamic reduction to die for, add this local haunt to your list.
