It’s time to start thinking about strapping on the lederhosen because Oktoberfest is coming to town.
That’s right, the iconic celebration of all things Bavarian will be taking over The Station on Saturday 5 October.
Held annually in Munich, the capital of Bavaria, Oktoberfest is a 16-18 day festival that runs from mid-September to the first Sunday in October.
Punters can expect to be in a Germanic gastronomic wonderland with the likes of pretzels, bratwurst, sauerkraut and pork knuckles temping tastebuds.
There will be some delicious German fare on offer, including the best pretzels, bratwurst, sauerkraut and pork knuckles that have ever been served.
It also wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without “bier” and you can also expect some of the finest imported German beers on offer. But if beer and bratwurst aren’t for you don’t worry – there will be something for everyone.
More than six million people descend on Munich each year for the festival and it’s clear they’re not there for a haircut either. Apparently in 2013 7.7 million litres of beer were consumed.
While the Newcastle iteration won’t live up to those lofty heights, we are sure Novocastrian beer fanciers will give it a red hot crack.
Oktoberfest Newcastle is on at The Station on Saturday 5 October from 1pm to 9pm. Get your tickets here.
