Winter is coming to McDonald Jones Stadium

If you’ve been waiting with bated breath to learn the fate of Westeros and its denizens with the final season of Game of Thrones streaming April 15, only on Foxtel, the nib Newcastle Knights are certainly getting into the spirit of things.

For their clash against the St George Illawarra Dragons on April 7, the Knights will channel their best Night’s Watch – that brave military order tasked with protecting Westeros from certain doom – as they attempt to put paid to a full frontal assault from the Dragons.

Speaking of dragons, no Game Of Thrones celebration would be complete without one of these imposing fire-breathers and the Mother of Dragons herself Daenerys Targaryen will unleash her very own dragon upon McDonald Jones Stadium for the occasion.

Footy fans will also have the chance to grab a photo sitting on the show’s iconic Iron Throne.

After two extremely narrow losses, the Knights will be looking for a mammoth result against the Dragons come April 7 and are hopeful that McDonald Jones Stadium is full of heroic chanting that would make Jon Snow proud.

With the eighth and final chapter of Game Of Thrones consisting of six feature-length episodes, this season is destined to be landmark television with each instalment promising to be epic in every way.
