It’s easy to forget what an impactย Courtney Love has had on our popular culture.ย Leaving her relationship and marriage to iconic grunge rocker aside, Courtney has continually embedded herself into the fabric of our everyday lives through her music, roles in movies and stage productions and more recently her output on social media.
With Courtney Love’s solo show hitting Newcastle Panthers on Friday, August 22 we thought it was time to look back over her career. A quick look through her list of achievements and output quickly puts any detractors in their place. It’s hard to argue with the body of work Courtney has produced or been a part of during her time in the spotlight.
Her Australian shows have become legend among fans and haters alike. With the star offering up memorable moments of pure punk such as telling photographers to f–k off, calling out (Silverchair frontman) Daniel Johns because he “looks like my dead husband” and constantly flashing the front row calling out for the crowd toย ‘look up my skirt’ it’s hard not to rate her stage show even if you don’t like the music. ย Check out Courtney’s band Hole performing at the Big Day Out in 1999 below for a great example of the above.

Her foray into acting, both on stage and in movies, hasn’t been without its highlights either.ย Herย portrayal ofย Althea Leasure Flynt in the movieย The People vs. Larry Flyntย was highly regarded by critics, with Entertainment Weekly’s Owen Gleiberman writing that Courtney has provided a performance “that glides from kinky abandon to stark tragedy”.

Now armed with a personally managed Twitter account Courtney has provided the interwebs with a number of memorable moments including this series of tweets aimed at American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey.

Even on the road as a solo artist, Courtney has been delivering massive sets that include cuts from her latest release, interwoven with highlights from Hole’s back catalogue and classic covers. Check out the set list below for a taste of what you can expect to be on the playlist when she hits Newcastle.
