Someone told me the other day that not everyone in Newcastle drinks coffee. That apparently some people prefer something called tea over the delicious bean. Although my initial reaction wasโsounds fake to meโ I thought I should take a look into this phenomena and spill the tea on the best places to get your fix in and around town.

The Tea Collective
Newcastleโs number one bae when it comes to tea, the tea collective is the place to get your fix. Head inside the autumn rooms and up the stairs and youโre greeted with literally a wall of tea. Woman at the helm Becky and her small and wonderful team are here to make your tea dreams come true. They also do a cracking High Tea so if youโre stuck for your hens/baby shower/ultimate treat yo self-day, look no further than the tea collective on Darby Street.

The Press
Not looking to go all out? Maybe you just want a nice place to rest, relax, unwind and wrap your hands around a second-hand book. The Press Book House โ obviously. I cannot recommend this place enough and no, canโt stop wonโt stop. They do have a great selection of tea so this post isnโt all that biased so why not head on down to Hunter Street and check out for a mini moment.
St Thomas High Tea Carrington
Another high tea hotspot? Why not explore a converted Church in Young Street Carrington. These High Teas are by appointment only but by the look of their Instagram, itโs well worth the organizational effort.
The Autumn Rooms
Breakfast, lunch, coffee and of course tea! Well, how could they go astray when the very famous and very wonderful tea collective is right upstairs. My personal fav was their winter special coconut chai. What a venue to sit back and relax in, and got lost in your favourite cup.
Nanna Kerrโs Kitchen
Looking for something super duper indulgent? In the words of Donna and Tom treat yo self! Set in the Hunter Valley, Nanna Kerrโs Kitchen is pretty much the kween of the traditional high tea, complete with cucumber sandwiches so why wait? Bookings recommended! Oh, and PS – $2 from every purchase goes towards supporting the Pokolbin Pride Fair so #winning
