We joined thousands of others at Westfield Kotara to celebrate the opening of its new Youth and Urban Precinct. We’ve put together this handy little guide so you can make the most of your visit to check out the 30 new and relocated speciality stores in the new precinct.
THE OUTDOORS INDOORS
The new space makes for a great stroll. The new Urban and Youth Precinct is designed to bring the outdoors in, and it certainly does the trick. It’s bright and airy with this huge skylight that scales the curved ceiling throwing all this natural light into the space.
#PROTIP: Make sure you check out the massive native floral-themed artwork by Sydney-based and internationally recognised fine artist, Scott Marsh.
Some of Westfield Kotara’s biggest drawcards include first-to-market gaming experiences from JB-Hi Fi and EB Games with Zing Pop.
These are not your average retail spaces. The new look JB is massive with lots of hands-on displays and the EB Games / Zing Pop store is what all geeky dreams are made of.
#PROTIP – Zing Pop has a whole wall of Pop! Vinyl Ikon Collectables. Make sure you leave enough time to check em all out!
GET SUMMER READY!
We’re all enjoying the warmer temperatures, and what better way to get into the summer swing than with some new beach fashion. We checked out the beautiful Carla Swimwear store before heading over to Surf Dive n Ski.
#PROTIP: If you’re a fan of surfing, you’ve got to check out the Mark Richards Surfboards (ridden by the man himself) inside the Surf Dive n Ski store which opened today, as well as first-to-market retailers like Mr and Mrs Jones, W Hair Bar and Espresso Warriors. Other new and relocated retailers opening today include Platypus, Industrie, YD, Connor, Universal Store, SK Menswear and Johnny Bigg.
ALL THE FASHION
Once complete, Westfield Kotara will offer a unique dining, entertainment, premium fashion and lifestyle experience for the whole family to enjoy – making it a full-service destination unlike anything else in the region.
The retailers in the new precinct have been carefully curated to appeal to the Hunter’s young community. The new Youth and Urban Precinct located next to H&M is synonymous with the region’s surf, skate and lifestyle culture and includes a diverse mix of retailers.
#PROTIP: Our editor Dan is always on the lookout for fashion for the “larger” gent. So he was a little giddy with excitement when he saw Johnny Bigg – a leading Australian retailer for big and tall men’s plus size clothes.
To celebrate the opening of the new Youth and Urban Precinct, Westfield Kotara has commenced four full-days of festivities across the entire centre. From live music, a Wine and Éclair Bar featuring Scarborough Wines and Choux Patisserie to face painting and a NERF HQ Immersive zone for the kids, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy at the opening of Westfield Kotara this weekend.
#PROTIP: If you’ve got little ones in your life, you should head straight to the NERF HQ Immersive zone. We did and it was AWESOME!
IT’S ONLY THE BEGINNING
In the coming months, Westfield Kotara will continue to welcome more exciting new fashion, health and entertainment retailers, as well as the much-anticipated extension of The Rooftop. It will be home to the only large format David Jones and Newcastle’s first Zara, as well as Timezone, Kmart, Billini, Gorman, The Academy Brand and the much-adored local brand, Savant Apothecary.
