We all know that when it comes to creative industries here in Newcastle, the depth and breadth of talent is wide, to say the least.
Well, now The Roost Creative want to establish a podcast series that highlights the growing creative industries in the Hunter Region and the changing face of Newcastle.
It is anticipated that the series will revolve around conversations with Novo creatives – giving them a chance to tell their stories and give insight into the challenges and rewards in working in creative fields while also celebrating the intrinsic value creativity has in enriching the community as a whole.
“We want to use this project to collaborate with people and organisations throughout the Hunter and with the amazing growth of creative industries I know we’ll have no shortage of stories to tell,” Roost Creative president Andy Jones said in a video promoting the concept.
The series will be created by The Roost with support from Phillip McIntyre and Susan Kerrigan, Associate Professors from the School of Creative Industries at the University of Newcastle who recently completed a three-year research project investigating the region’s creative industries.
The not-for-profit submitted a grant application under the State Government’s My Community Project initiative which has moved into the second round – a public vote.
All you have to do to cast your vote for this ambitious project is head to https://mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au/ (check out the above video for a detailed explanation on how to vote.)
But you’ll have to get in quick, because voting closes at midnight on Thursday 15 August.
