The Venom Lips drop self titled EP

Newcastle band In Motion have been one of the most talked about local acts in the last 12 months. Now, the three piece are moving on with a new name, The Venom Lips, and a self titled EP that sees the alt rockers build on their effortlessly tight sound.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Mitta Norath of Tommirock Studios in Newcastle and mastered Leon Zervos at Studios 301 in Sydney, the recording is dripping in riffs and attitude.

Highlights of the release include the crowd favourite, American Honey and EP closer Words Of Wisdom with its face melting intro riff and big drum sound.

But it’s the track Black & Gold that really sees the band embrace the freedom of their recent name change. With a guitar sound that reminds us of local act FACEplant, the song takes Lachlan Fisher’s vocals to a new place and we’re lovin’ what we hear.

You can stream the EP below, or head to the act’s Bandcamp page to sling them some dollars for a hard copy or some merch and support local music.
