Are you sitting on a tune that you reckon could help define the soundtrack of your generation?
Well, stop hiding that light under a bushel. It’s time to start blowing your own trumpet by entering that bad boy in the 2020 Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.
With this insipid pandemic affecting the livelihoods of musos worldwide, the submission deadline for this year’s comp has been extended from Thursday 14 May to Thursday 29 October as well as adding an additional ten runner-up cash prizes of $1000!
In what is sure to be a massive boost to any songwriter, the first place winner will take home a career-changing $50,000 thanks to APRA AMCOS, Alberts and BMG while second place will recieve a not-to-be-sneezed-at $10,000 from Banki Haddock Fiora.
$5000 will also be awarded to third place and the winner of the AMPAL Emerging Songwriters Prize for unpublished songwriters.
With the aim to help more songwriters financially and get their music heard by both industry tastemakers and fans, ten runners-up from the Top 40 shortlist will also be awarded a $1,000 cash prize, thanks to an anonymous donor.
The judging panel, this year, includes award-winning songwriters Lior and Dallas Frasca, Triple J Unearthed’s Dave Ruby Howe, producer Robert Conley and reps from Amazon Music and Universal Music.
The long-running comp has also helped launch the likes of Amy Shark, Matt Corby Megan Washington, Kimbra and Husky Gawenda.
