Vale Australian Entertainer Jon English

Jon English has passed away aged 66, as confirmed by his management this morning. He was due to perform at the Beaumont St Carnivale on Sunday.

On the advice of his doctors, Jon English withdrew from his scheduled headline performance at the Beaumont St Carnivale late on Tuesday, however his management confirmed this morning that he sadly passed away overnight, following complications from surgery.

A seasoned entertainer and no stranger to Hamilton festival stages, Jon was one of the few Australian performers to combine a successful career in music, television and stage. The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and Beaumont St Carnivale event team are saddened by this enormous loss of talent and will fondly remember Jon on Sunday, commemorating his contribution to Australian culture with a minute’s silence.

The show will go on with over 30 different acts taking over the streets and the stages with music, fashion parades, cultural performances and interactive workshops. Market stalls, food trucks and extended street trading will also provide ample shopping and dining options.

In addition, an outdoor kitchen will be set up to showcase some creative culinary skills when traditional home cooks, local restaurateurs and celebrity chefs take to the hotplate.
