Newcastle’s music lovers are in for a special treat as Listen Up Music’s Spotlight Series returns in 2025, bringing an intimate and deeply personal live music experience to the city.
Designed to foster a connection between artists and audiences, the event offers a unique opportunity to hear the stories behind the songs, with an open Q&A session diving into music and mental health topics.
This year’s lineup boasts three exceptional artists, each with their own distinctive style and compelling narratives. Amy Vee, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and award-winning composer, will take the stage with her ethereal blend of indie folk and ambient dream pop. Known for her poetic lyricism and evocative soundscapes, Amy is also a passionate advocate for mental health, serving as the Chair of the Board for Listen Up Music.
Joining her is NEAV, the musical persona of singer-songwriter Niamh Watson. A prolific songwriter and former winner of The Songwriting Prize, NEAV has spent recent months honing her craft on an extensive European songwriting and networking tour. With industry connections spanning London, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, and Edinburgh, she is set to showcase new material shaped by her international experiences.
Also gracing the Spotlight Series stage is Chloe Gill, a rising folk-rock talent who has quickly made a name for herself in the Australian music scene. After a breakout year in 2023, which saw her crowned the overall winner of The Songwriting Prize, Gill continues to captivate audiences with her nostalgic yet fresh sound.
Hosted by our very own Bonnie Anne, the Spotlight Series promises to have an emphasis on raw, authentic artistry and important conversations around mental health.
Spotlight Series Newcastle will take over The Stag and Hunter Hotel on 20 February from 7pm. Limited seating is available, so be sure to grab your tickets now by heading to stagandhunter.oztix.com.au.
