Newcastle punk outfit Trophy Eyes have announced a one-off home soil show to help those affected by the NSW fires.
Taking to social media this week to announce the show, the band revealed they were spurred into action after learning that a mate had been affected directly.
“Last week, one of our dear friends and Newcastle music community legends, Sam Fenning (Same Old Story and The Cavalcade) lost his home to the fires in Nymboida,” the post read.
“He is currently on the search for his dog Otto who was separated from him in the peak of the fire. Sam was extremely lucky to escape with minor burns and cuts, as his Dad suffered more severe burns. But thankfully, both are alive today. Unfortunately, Sams’s house and belongings were not insured and they have to start again with nothing at all.”
The post continued, revealing that all proceeds from the ‘last-minute’ show would be donated to the NSW Rural Fire Service and Sam Fenning and his family.
“We had not planned to do a hometown show until next year, but with a big thanks to The Cambridge Hotel and our team, we have managed to make this work so we can get this to happen as soon as possible,” the band added.
