Slippery slime and horrifying Halloween crafts are just some of the fun activities planned for Lake Mac kids these school holidays.
Kicking off on Monday, 26 September and running through to Friday, 7 October, the Lake Macquarie City Council school holiday calendar is pretty stacked and includes a performance of a play that celebrates the iconic beach culture and family camping holidays.
“The play called At the Beach, which is full of quirky humour and coastal fun, will be presented at Rathmines Theatre on Friday 7 October,” Lake Macquarie City Council Lifelong Learning and Engagement Coordinator Kirrily Anderson said.
A lineup of storytime events are also planned for the October school holidays including a “semi-spooky” event with songs and crafts at Morisset Library on Tuesday 4 October.
There’s also a kite-making workshop on Wednesday 5 October and a raft-making workshop on Friday 7 October.
“We want kids to enjoy themselves and learn new things outside the classroom,” Arts, Culture and Tourism Manager Jacqui Hemsley said.
Another one of the highlights of the Lake Mac School Holiday program will be the Cape or no cape event.
Cape or no cape promises to teach kids about real-life superheroes in our community, like scientists, emergency services workers and nurses.
