Well known local musician Trevor Dare did something special to celebrate his 60th birthday – he gathered together some of the city’s finest muse’s and did a spectacular show at Lizottes to launch his debut album. What a way to do it! New castle Live asked Trevor to jot down his thoughts about the night…
What an amazing night I had at my CD launch & 60th birthday at Lizottes!
I’m not one for the spotlight as my friends will concur. I’d rather be in the back line near the drums where I feel most comfortable but I’m afraid that was never going to happen.
I arrived to see so many of my friends and family I haven’t seen in ages. Now I’m getting excited! I went backstage to see all those wonderful musicians having a great time laughing and catching up with each other…some have never met each other before and they were like old friends. Music does that to people.
“5 mins to show time Mr. Dare”. Oh shit, this just got real !! I grabbed my trusty Les Paul, something that I’ve done thousands of times before, only this time it was for my very own show…
Mac calls out “Let’s go” and counts us in . . .
Two an a half hours later we were saying our goodbyes. It felt like 10 minutes … where the hell did the time go?
What a great feeling looking around on stage seeing all my mates laughing and having a ball!
We slowed down the set and did some acoustic songs in the middle which the crowd really enjoyed as well.

Just before the last song, they all surprised me by playing “Birthday” by The Beatles (my fave band) and Linda came out with a cake. Awesome!! Then we finished off with all the performers coming back on stage to finish with “With a Little Help From My Friends”… FANTASTIC! What a night!!!
I didn’t get to sleep till well after 4 am…I was still buzzing with too much excitement.
One very special night I’ll never forget… I’d like to thank all the performers and all the people that came out on a Tuesday night !!
I can honestly say my 61st is going to be boring night…Lol.
