Everyone knows the planet is kind of dying.
Sorry to be all bleak and doomsday about it, but it’s a thing that’s happening. You know it. I know it. We all know it.
So thankfully, in an effort to combat its further demise, water restrictions in our part of the world will be ramping up a notch
With Level 2 water restrictions coming into effect on 20 January, here are our top tips to make sure you’re not a water wally this summer.
1. Outdoor watering is reduced to 15 minutes ONLY every second day
Great for the planet yes, but those with gardens not so great I’m sure.
The best way to combat this is keep a bucket in the shower and make the best use of the water that would otherwise go down the drain!
2. The washing of cars is with a bucket only
This is fine right? You don’t really need to wash your car, especially not every second flipping day with a hose.
If you’re really hankering to keep your wheels shiny, hit the carwash, where they recycle water on the reg.
3. 4-minute showers
Seriously if you need more than 4 minutes in the shower, you’re kind of doing something wrong.
4. Leave the gurney at home
Seriously though, I just don’t think there’s ever a time to gurney the driveway and level two water restrictions are a good chance to make sure you check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Let nature do its thing when it comes to the driveway and leave the professional cleaning jobs to the professionals.
5. Be on the lookout
Ok fine I’m not exactly telling you to dob on your friends or whatever but, well maybe I kind of am.
If you see someone with the greenest lawn in all the land, when everywhere else is looking responsibly bare, why not say something about it?
There are hefty fines involved for those who choose to break water restrictions so why not make sure you’re doing your bit and they are doing their bit. The planet is the real winner here.
