Top five podcasts to sink your ears into

I will be the first to admit that it has taken me a long (long long long) time to jump on the podcast train.

It’s probably because I’m one of those hardcore hipsters who will only like something if it’s not hip in the hopes of making it hip and then immediately hating it but… I am happy for podcasts to be the exception in this case.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, why not take in our hot five podcasts to kick you off right. Disclaimer – They aren’t all true crime, I promise.

Criminal

True crime is all the rage, didn’t you know? And this is one of the best. The episodes are bite-sized looks into well… crime, obviously. But they focus on specific cases and interview those behind the curtain. Also the host – Phoebe Judge has one of the most soothing voices on this planet so whether you’re listening to facts about a horrific case or not, you’ll be wrapped.

Who the Hell is Hamish

Say what you want about The Australian as a newspaper, but it’s pretty darn clear that they make a cracker podcast (surely you’ve heard of teacher’s pet right?). Their latest true crime venture is Who the Hell is Hamish –A wonderfully produced and edge of your seat saga about a conman named Hamish, and the lives he subsequently destroyed. It’s awesome and happens to be the podcast which got me into podcasts.

Modern Love

See, not all true crime! Modern Love comes straight from the Modern Love section of the New York Times and they are stories to warm, break, and swell your heart. Most importantly though, they are real people, telling real stories about love, loss and everything in between.

Starving Artist

This one comes direct from awesome human Honor Eastley and is all about giving creatives a mental leg up when they are walking the lonely road that is the creative life. It’s also practical and to the point and super duper engaging. #winning

Conversations (ABC)

Look, I couldn’t make a top five podcasts without including conversations. There is bound to be someone you’ve always wanted to know more about so why not scroll through the massive list of interviews and step into someone else’s life for a red hot minute.
