Get ready neo-prog rock fans. Legends of the genre Tool are heading Down Under in February.
Hot on the heels of their anticipated fifth album Fear Inoculum, the band will play Qudos Bank Arena on Monday 17 February on their first Australian tour in six years.
The band are currently in the midst of a 26-date US tour and judging by what the stateside music wags had to say, this is a band at the top of their game, both sonically and visually.
Entertainment Voice had this to say: “The visuals were provocative, with laser lights and an LED screen featuring a variety of videos – fetuses, aliens, skeletons, emaciated figures, insects, water, and fire – in line with the band’s romanticising of doom and destruction.”
The August 2019 release of Fear Inoculum couldn’t have come soon enough for Tool fans, with the band’s last studio album 10,000 Days, dropping way back in 2006.
The anticipation proved warranted with Fear Inoculum hitting number one in Australia and New Zealand.
Released in August 2019, Fear Inoculum debuted at number one in Australia and New Zealand.
In the USA, the band knocked Taylor Swift off the top spot and sold 270,000 units in its first week alone.
This week, the band announced the December 13 release of an expanded book edition of Fear Inoculum, which includes 5 x 3D lenticular cards with exclusive graphics, an expanded 56-page booklet, a download of the groundbreaking immersive visual experience (video) Recusant Ad Infinitum, and a CD.
