15-year-old Todd Haywood blew us away last Friday when he fronted his band, Misadventure for a short set as part of the Bandwidth band comp at Hunter Performing Arts School.
An early start
Todd started playing at just 6 years old when his kinder garden teacher started a guitar group at his school. He started singing & busking around Newcastle at age 12 & has played at a number of events, festivals & talent quests.
Misadventure, Todd’s band, took out the top spot in last week’s Bandwidth band comp at Hunter Performing Arts School. And for good reason too. For such a young band they presented a unique sound, skilful playing for their age and to top it all off their set was entertaining – An asset even working bands still struggle with.
No Plan B
There’s no Plan B for Todd and his list of musical achievements is a good indication he’s on the right path. He recently placed 2nd in the Australian national busking championships and took out 1st place in the Slim Dusty Talent quest last year.
