There’s under a week for local song writers to get their entry into the Tip Jar Song Competition. With the September 29 cut off date getting closer every day, we thought we’d take a look at what the winners will take away.
TIP JAR is a songwriting competition for the city of Newcastle with an awards ceremony and a variety of events in partnership with local venues to celebrate local musicians as well as the diversity of talent this city has to offer.
You can enter songs written just by yourself or within a song writing collaboration. Record at home with your own gear or in a local studio. The competition is about great songs, it’s not about the instrumentation or overly produced recordings.
Both the winner of the public vote and the judges choice will take away $10,000 in prizes… But what does that $10,000 buy?
10 hours recording time working with award winning engineers & producers
You know that world class studio at the local TAFE that we keep banging on about? The one that just installed the new Avid S6 sound console with Dolby 360-degree ATMOS technology… You get to record your song there with some of the most knowledgeable engineers and producers in the business.
Artist promotion including media appearances & advertising
That’s where we come in. Newcastle Live and our mates over at Newcastle Mirage will shower you and your creation with some sick media coverage in our online and print products. Plus we’ll work with you on some display advertising to get people to interact with your new recording.
Marketing collateral & press pack including photography, video & design
You’ll work with the teams EAO Entertainment & Sawtooth Studios Newcastle to produce on some sweet promo swag. This is the stuff that will make you stand out from the crowd when you approch media, agents and labels.
Industry masterclasses on publishing deals and getting your song heard by the right people
The good people over at Source Music will take you through a number of “masterclasses” on getting your music in the ears of the people that matter. The people who can add you to popular playlists, get your music on radio and help you choose from the myriad of distribution options available to artists in 2017.
